🍴 Dining Experience
Jiangxi Cuisine - Ganbei Style. I rushed there right after work. We ordered a 138 RMB set for 2-3 people, which included Braised Fish with Edamame 🐟, Pingxiang Stir-fried Pork 🥩, and Stir-fried Mao Cabbage 🥬. Originally, there was supposed to be Pan-fried Tofu, but they ran out, so we paid the difference to swap it for Tea Oil Lotus Blood Duck 🦆. Later, we ordered a portion of Pingxiang Stir-fried Rice Noodles separately. Everyone ended up devouring two big bowls of rice 🍚. Eating Jiangxi cuisine without devouring rice 🍚 is disrespecting it 🫡.

Tea Oil Lotus Blood Duck 🦆: Personally, I really like Blood Duck, but for its 88 RMB price tag, I feel it’s a bit expensive. 🌶️ Minced chili, 🦆 minced duck meat, tea oil, and duck blood mixed together—four words: “Rice 🍚 Artifact”. Eating Blood Duck over rice is very nice. I can only describe it as “satisfying”—one bite after another, couldn’t stop. Flavor-wise, I 👤 personally like it, but tastes 👅 vary; my friend felt there wasn’t much to eat, just bony minced duck and chili, though the taste was good 👅.
-
Pingxiang Stir-fried Pork 🥩: The stir-fried pork is made in a very Jiangxi style, stir-fried with garlic sprouts. Although the taste was standard, I could indeed taste the flavor of my hometown 👅. It’s savory and fresh, also a rice artifact. My friend thought it was good but too “home-style”—indeed, it is home-style, haha.
-
Braised Fish with Edamame 🐟: Several friends liked the Braised Fish with Edamame. The fish skin is slightly charred, and both texture and taste are good 😌. The only downside is that there are many bones, making it inconvenient to eat. It’s similar to how my family makes it 🍳, very close in taste. But my family uses a different kind of fish 🐟 (I don’t remember which), where the meat is more elastic and the bones are larger, making it much easier to eat. Braised Fish with Edamame is recommended 👍.
-
Stir-fried Mao Cabbage 🥬: Mao Cabbage (a type of bok choy) is also made in a very authentic Jiangxi way. A few slices of garlic, stir-fried with the cabbage 🥬, add some salt, and serve. Compared to the light Cantonese style, this is savory and fragrant, more suitable for pairing with rice 🍚.
-
Pingxiang Stir-fried Rice Noodles 🍳: Too salty. Don’t know if our portion was salty or if it’s always like this. The texture and presentation were familiar, but the 👅 taste wasn’t like what I have at home. Not recommended 🙅.
Summary: If you want to experience authentic Jiangxi cuisine, I recommend giving it a try. I can’t guarantee you’ll like the 👅 taste, but it is indeed authentic.
